Kanpur: Police exhumed the body of a 41-year-old woman from a grave in Beconganj on Saturday after her family alleged she was murdered, and sent it for postmortem, saying further action would follow once the cause of death became clear.The woman, Nisha Kausar, was buried 10 days ago. Her mother, Shakila of Anwarganj, accused her son-in-law Intezar Ahmad, a tailor living on Rizvi Road, of killing her. Shakila said her six-year-old granddaughter told her that her father beat Nisha and later electrocuted her.According to Shakila, she married Nisha Kausar to Intezar Ahmad 19 years ago. They have four children, Imran, Zeeshan, Arbia and Adeeba. It was alleged that the son-in-law had been harassing Nisha since some time after the marriage.Shakila said that on the night of May 26, the in-laws called to say Nisha died after coming in contact with a current that had leaked into the fridge. She said the body was buried on the morning of May 27 in the graveyard at Bakarmandi.According to the mother, her six-year-old granddaughter Arbia told her that on the day of the incident, her father beat her mother and banged her head against the wall. She said the child also told her, after this, he killed her mother by electrocuting her with a wire.
Shakila wrote a letter to the Police Commissioner, District Magistrate and CMO demanding justice.On Saturday, Beckanganj police exhumed the body from the grave with videography and sent it for postmortem.Beconganj Inspector Mohd. Mateen Khan said, “To ascertain the real cause of the woman’s death, the body is being exhumed from the grave and a postmortem is being conducted. Action will be taken on the basis of the postmortem report and the complaint.”
