Police get custody of youth accused of rape

A youth from Thrissur, accused of sexually abusing a model in Kochi, has been sent in police custody after he surrendered before the Ernakulam Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.

The Ernakulam North police had registered a case against the accused, identified as Prashobh, 36, of Kaipamangalam in Thrissur, based on a complaint filed by the survivor.

The police said the accused worked in the modelling field. He had been charged with rape and would be in custody till Monday (September 1, 2025), the police added. The alleged crime took place at a lodge within the Ernakulam North police station limits. The police said the survivor feared that Prashobh allegedly filmed the sexual act and shared the visuals with others.

He surrendered before the magistrate the other day after coming to know of the complaint against him.
