Police honour Potti Sriramulu on his 125th birth anniversary

Police officials across Chittoor, Sri Sathya Sai, and Annamayya districts paid rich tributes to freedom fighter known for his pivotal role in the creation of Andhra Pradesh, Potti Sriramulu, on his 125th birth anniversary on Monday.

In Chittoor district, Additional Superintendent of Police S.R. Rajashekar Raju garlanded the portrait of Sriramulu at the Armed Reserve office. Addressing the personnel, he recalled Sriramulu’s historic fast unto death, demanding a separate Andhra State, and described him as a symbol of sacrifice, humility, and dedication to public service. Several police officers and staff later offered floral tributes.

In the Sri Sathya Sai district, Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar and Additional SP Ankita Surana participated in a commemorative programme at the district police office in Puttaparthi. The SP said that the sacrifice of Sriramulu in the formation of Andhra State continues to inspire generations and urged the youth to follow his ideals.

Meanwhile, Annamayya SP Dheeraj Kunubilli led the observance at the Deputy SP’s office in Madanapalle, recalling the role of Sriramulu in the freedom struggle and national movements.
