Police investigate bank accounts after MDMA seizure, arrests

Kochi: City police investigating the seizure of 14.63g of MDMA early from a rented house in Cheranallore began an investigation into the bank accounts of the accused.The case pertains to the arrest of Amal George Shenson, 33, of Edayakunnam, Cheranallore and Abhijith M V, 25, of Palayathuruthu, Vadakkekara.Police said as per primary probe, the accused Abhijith was using female friend’s bank account to receive money. Cheranallore police found that the main accused, Shenson, received money from customers through Abhijith.Mostly, customers paid using cash, however, when receiving money via payment apps, the friend’s account was used. Police are examining the financial transactions that took place through this account.Abhijith’s phone call details are under verification. The investigation team are also examining the financial and phone call details of Shenson.Sources said Abhijith used to work as a taxi driver, and it is suspected that he was selling narcotics using this vehicle as well. Both of them were arrested on Thursday by Cheranalloor Police and city Dansaf team.
