Police shoot accused during escape attempt in Shivamogga

Police shot and injured an accused during a mahajar near Shivamogga early on Sunday (June 14, 2026) after he allegedly assaulted a constable and attempted to escape.

The Kote Police arrested five people in connection with the murder of Narasimha, a rowdy sheeter, as reported on Friday (June 12, 2026). The arrested individuals are Madhu, Anil, Ravi, Karthik, and Shabarish.

While police were conducting a mahajar (site inspection) at Holebenavalli near Shivamogga, Madhu allegedly assaulted Constable Anjanappa and tried to flee. Harish Patel, the inspector of Kote Police Station, fired at the accused to prevent his escape. Madhu sustained a bullet injury to his leg and was admitted to McGann Hospital for treatment.
