'Possession' remake: Paul Dano joins Callum Turner, Margaret Qualley in supernatural thriller

Actor Paul Dano has joined the cast of Paramount's remake of the 1981 cult supernatural thriller "Possession".According to Deadline, the "Batman" actor will feature alongside Callum Turner and Margaret Qualley in the movie, which will be written and directed by Parker Finn, best known for the "Smile" horror franchise.The details of Dano's character have been kept under wraps.Finn is also producing the project with Jonathan Fass through Bad Feeling. Roy Lee and Andrew Childs are producing via Vertigo, while actor Robert Pattinson is also attached as a producer. Marc Bienstock will serve as executive producer.The original "Possession", written and directed by Andrzej Zulawski, starred Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill as a married couple living in Cold War-era West Berlin whose crumbling relationship descends into supernatural horror.The film has since attained cult status as a landmark of arthouse horror cinema. Adjani won the Best Actress prize at the Cannes Film Festival for her performance.Dano was most recently seen alongside Alicia Vikander and Tom Sturridge in Olivier Assayas' "The Wizard of the Kremlin".His upcoming projects include Florian Zeller's psychological thriller "Bunker", Ramin Bahrani's "Vegas: A Love Story" and A24's "The Chaperones".
