The Additional District and Sessions Court-IV has postponed the verdict in the Pothundy twin murder case to July 13 due to the judge’s ill health. The court was to deliver the judgment on Monday (July 6, 2026).
The case relates to the murder of Sudhakaran, 55, and his mother Lakshmi, 75, at Thiruthupadam, Pothundy, near Nemmara. The sole accused, Chenthamara, is facing trial.
Chenthamara was earlier convicted and sentenced to double life imprisonment for the 2019 murder of Sudhakaran’s wife, Sajitha. According to the prosecution, he committed the twin murder while being out on bail in that case.
The prosecution said that on January 27, 2025, Chenthamara hacked Sudhakaran and Lakshmi to death with a machete, driven by long-standing enmity with Sajitha’s family.
A total of 82 witnesses were examined in the case. Sudhakaran’s daughters, Akhila and Athulya, said they were waiting for justice to be delivered for the merciless murder of their parents.
