Residents in several parts of Bengaluru should prepare for planned power outages on Friday and Saturday, as electricity supply will be interrupted due to emergency maintenance work. The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited has issued an advance alert, warning that the outages may affect daily routines, businesses, and work-from-home schedules in multiple neighbourhoods.

According to BESCOM, the power cuts are linked to maintenance work being carried out by KPTCL and will impact different sections of the city on consecutive days.

Power cut schedule and timing

The electricity disruption will take place on two separate days, with power supply expected to remain suspended from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on both days.

On Friday, the outage will affect areas falling under the Jalahalli division. On Saturday, power supply will be disrupted in locations served by the 66/11 kV Vijayanagar substation in the Rajajinagar division.

BESCOM officials have said the shutdown is necessary to carry out emergency maintenance work and ensure long-term reliability of the power network.

Areas affected on Friday

On Friday, residents in several neighbourhoods under the Jalahalli division will experience power cuts. These include Vinayaka Nagar, Vikas Nagar, Sobha Apartment area, 8th Mile Road, Ramaiah Layout, parts of Havanur Extension, Narayana Layout, Kuvempu Nagar, Vidya Nagar, Defence Colony, Manjunath Nagar, Mahalakshmi Nagar, Kataraya Nagar, Soap Factory Layout, Vijayalakshmi Layout, Andanappa Layout, BTS Layout, Siddeshwara Layout, Sasuveghatta, parts of Soladevanahalli, Tarabanahalli Main Road, and portions of Hesaraghatta Main Road.

Residents in these areas are advised to plan essential activities in advance, especially those dependent on electricity such as online work, water pumping, and refrigeration.

Areas affected on Saturday

On Saturday, the power disruption will shift to the Rajajinagar division, affecting areas connected to the Vijayanagar substation. Localities likely to face outages include Basaveshwara Nagar, Vijayanagar, Govindaraja Nagar, Kamakshipalya, RPC Layout, Binny Layout, Prashanth Nagar, Hosahalli, parts of MC Layout, Marenahalli Layout, PC Industrial Area, and stretches from Vijayanagar 7th Main Road to 13th Main Road.

In addition, electricity supply will be affected in Kaveripura, Ranganathapura, KCG Industrial Area, Nanjappa Industrial Estate, Selvam Industrial Estate, Ballayana Kere area, Syndicate Bank Colony, multiple blocks of Kaveripura, Nagarbhavi 11th Block, KHB Colony, HVR Layout, Siddaiah Puranik Road, Papaiah Garden KHB Colony, Magadi Main Road, and parts of Agrahara Dasarahalli.

What residents should do

BESCOM has advised residents to take precautionary measures during the outage period. This includes charging essential devices in advance, storing water where electric pumps are used, and planning work schedules accordingly. Businesses and industries in affected zones may also need to adjust operating hours.

Officials added that power supply is expected to be restored after the scheduled maintenance window, barring unforeseen technical issues. Residents are advised to stay updated through BESCOM’s official communication channels for any changes to the schedule.
