Power outage traps 13 in Bareilly mall lift

Bareilly: Thirteen people were trapped in a lift for about 35 minutes at City Centre LA Mall in Bareilly on Sunday night after a power outage disrupted its operation, police said.The incident occurred around 9.24pm when the lift stopped between the first and second floors as moviegoers were heading down after a screening.

People inside raised an alarm, following which the lift door was forced open and all 13 occupants were brought out safely.Officials said, “Some of those trapped tried to force open the door, damaging the sensor. Although the mall’s generator started functioning soon after the outage, the damaged sensor prevented the lift door from opening.”A girl fainted during the incident and was given first aid. CO City First Ashutosh Shivam said police were probing the technical fault and examining the relevant documents.
