In a shocking incident from Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, a 15-year-old boy climbed a high-tension power line in a bid to get his parents to agree to his marriage. The teenager’s attempt caused panic among the residents. The teenager remained suspended in the air for nearly 40 minutes before authorities safely brought him down.

The boy was uninjured as the power had coincidentally gone off in the area. The incident happened near the Devsara police station.

Why Did The Boy Climb The Power Line?

As per Bhaskar English, the boy was in love with a teenage girl from the Patti area. The couple was reportedly in a relationship for a year. When he went to meet her, he was beaten up by her family. A compromise was later reached between the two families.

The boy’s family confiscated his phone and banned him from the area. Angered by his family’s reaction, the teenager climbed an 11,000-volt power line and held on to the wire. He reportedly vowed to come down only after his marriage was arranged with his girlfriend.

The move triggered panic among the teen’s family and the rest of the villagers, who contacted the electricity department for help.
