Pregnant woman, premature baby die

Trichy: A 32-year-old pregnant woman and her premature baby died at her residence in Sempattu near Trichy airport on Tuesday.Police said Divya, wife of Manikandan, was eight months pregnant and was at home when she suddenly experienced severe bleeding while using the restroom.

She went into labour unexpectedly and delivered the baby prematurely at home.Soon after, Divya lost consciousness, prompting her husband to alert 108 ambulance service. When ambulance personnel arrived and examined the woman and the baby, they found that both had died by then. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination. Airport police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
