Premgi to compose for Malikappuram director’s Tamil debut

Malayalam director Vishnu Sasi Shankar, known for helming Malikappuram (2022), is making his Tamil directorial debut with a divine action drama titled Tat Twam Assi. The film’s music will be composed by Premgi Amaren , whose music Vishnu believes carries the swag the film needs.

“I was introduced to him through the film’s production. He understood the vibe I had in mind. That’s how we connected,” he states.Tat Twam Assi has been conceived as a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, and Vishnu shares that it’ll be about the “journey of a man going down the wrong path in life, finding his belief and the change he goes through”. Elaborating about the narrative, he states, “It’s a mix of genres with a stronger commercial as well as a feel-good element.

Maybe, it can be called a proper Indian masala film.”Ask him about his move to Kollywood, and the director shares, “Even when I did two films in Malayalam, I wanted to work in Tamil because I studied in Chennai and worked as an assistant director to director Ponram sir.” He continues, “The production saw Malikappuram and reached out to me. I thought it’d be a fullon divine film, but I got even more interested when I heard about the commercial angle to it. The film will be rooted in our culture.
