President Murmu offers prayers at Sripuram Golden Temple in Vellore

VELLORE: President Droupadi Murmu, who is on a one-day visit to Tamil Nadu, offered prayers at Sripuram Golden Temple in Vellore on Wednesday. She reached Vellore by helicopter from Karnataka. She was received at the helipad by Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi, Union minister of state for information and broadcasting L Murugan and Tamil Nadu handlooms and textiles minister R Gandhi, among other dignitaries.The President proceeded to the Sripuram Golden Temple, a major spiritual landmark in the district. She worshipped the Silver Vinayakar deity. She then had darshan of Goddess Mahalakshmi and Lord Srinivasa Perumal. Temple authorities offered her sacred theertham, which she received with devotion. She also participated in special poojas performed for Vaibhava Lakshmi.Elaborate security arrangements were made across Vellore city and around the temple area in view of the President’s visit. More than 1,000 police personnel were deployed at various locations to ensure security and regulate traffic movement. The President left for Tirupati by helicopter, concluding her Vellore visit.
