The Central University of Andhra Pradesh (CUAP), Ananthapuramu, will celebrate a historic milestone with its first convocation on July 1 (Wednesday) as President of India, Droupadi Murmu, will grace the occasion as the chief guest and deliver the convocation address.
The ceremony will be presided over by Chancellor Shankar Acharrya in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh.
A total of 1,268 students from the graduating batches of 2020-2026 will receive degrees, including 480 undergraduate and 788 postgraduate students representing 23 Indian states. The university will also confer 56 university gold medals and eight endowment gold medals upon meritorious students from 11 states.
Established in 2018 and recognised by an Act of Parliament in 2019, CUAP has rapidly emerged as one of India’s fastest-growing Central universities. From an initial strength of less than 100 students, the university currently offers nine undergraduate, 18 postgraduate, six Ph.D., and 15 diploma programmes, with over 1,470 students drawn from 26 States.
The university has developed a modern permanent campus at Janthaluru with the support of Central government under Phase-I infrastructure development. The campus houses state-of-the-art academic buildings, smart classrooms, advanced laboratories, hostels, a digital library, a NextGen Data Centre, and a Media Studio. CUAP has also implemented major reforms under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, introduced several future-oriented academic programmes, established research and innovation centres, and strengthened national collaborations through multiple MoUs.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor S.A. Kori described the first convocation as a defining moment in the university’s journey and reaffirmed CUAP’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, inclusive growth, and nation-building through quality higher education.
