Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandve has asked officers concerned to take strict action to prevent illegal sand mining, extraction and hoarding under the Karnataka Minor Mineral Concession Rules (KMMCR).

He was chairing a district-level sand supervising committee meeting in Yadgir on Wednesday.

Officers have to implement action to prevent illegal sand mining, extraction and hoarding under the rule.

“There have been several complaints from various places, including Shorapur, Shahapur and Wadagera taluks. Such illegal activities should be dealt with by implementing rules strictly. Officers of the Regional Transport Office should join hands in this by seizing vehicles found with illegal sand loads, overloading and without a valid registration number plate,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
