A 29-year-old woman and her 11-month-old son were found dead under suspicious circumstances at their residence in Byraveshwarnagar near Nagarbhavi on Wednesday.

In a complaint submitted by Mahantesh Wali, a 32-year-old engineer employed at a private firm in Peenya, he stated that he departed for work around 9 a.m. on April 1, leaving his wife, Pratibha Wali, and their infant son at home. Pratibha, who worked for a private company near Silk Board, was currently working from home.

When Mahantesh returned around 6.30 p.m., he found the door locked from the inside. Despite repeated knocks and phone calls, there was no response. He then accessed the house using a spare key kept near the window. Upon entering, he found that his wife had ended her life. Their infant son was found lying unresponsive on the bed.

A purported note recovered from the scene, written in English, stated that the child had accidentally fallen into water and died, and that she was unable to save him. The note also sought forgiveness. Investigators also found an empty strip of Dolo tablets near the body, indicating possible consumption of multiple pills.

Based on the complaint, an unnatural death report has been registered at the Chandra Layout Police Station. The police said the complainant has expressed suspicion over the deaths and requested a detailed probe. The bodies have been sent for postmortem, and further investigation is under way to ascertain the exact cause of the incident.
