Prosenjit, Jisshu &  Subhashree  come together for the music and trailer launch of their upcoming film

The music and trailer launch of the upcoming Bengali film Abhhiman, directed by Indraadip Dasgupta, turned into an evening steeped in nostalgia, gratitude and celebration of Bengali cinema, as the cast, crew and stalwarts of the industry came together at a city studio.The event opened with actor Jisshu U Sengupta, who hosted the evening and set an emotional tone right from the start. Thanking everyone present, Jisshu said that seeing the audience seated in front of him felt “like a dream.” Recounting his early struggles, he spoke about leaving television to pursue films, only to face repeated rejections. His breakthrough, he said, came when veteran filmmaker Swapan Saha gave him work, followed by opportunities.

He said,” I am grateful for everything and all these people present here today.”

Lyricist Srijato was then invited on stage, where he recited a few lines for the film that encapsulated its emotional core. After which, director of the film Indraadip was called on the stage. Talking about the film he summed it up saying, “Life isn’t about camera flashes, it’s about how much we touch each other’s hearts — even through quarrels, fights, and coming back to one another, and this is what our film is about.”

He then introduced the entire technical team — editors, colourists and crew members — acknowledging the many hands behind the making of.

He also spoke about learning cinema under the guidance of Srijit Mukherji and Kaushik Ganguly and requested Srijit Mukherjee to come up on stage, he was the song writer in one of the songs in this film. Followed by, Prosenjit Chatterjee one of the leads in the film came on the stage and shared his support for the filmA special segment honoured stalwarts of Bengali cinema. Industry veterans Swapan Saha, Haranath Chakraborty, Anup Sengupta and Prabhat Roy were felicitated with framed posters of their landmark films, Sneher Protidan, Khelaghar, Shoshur Bari Zindabad and Maa-er Aanchal — celebrating their successful theatrical runs. During this segment, a poignant note was struck when speakers reflected on how Bengali cinema once had nearly 700 halls in 2001, compared to around 200–300 shows today, expressing hope of reclaiming that scale in the future.The evening then moved to the much-awaited trailer launch, followed by the music unveiling. Actor Kanchan Mullick addressed the audience before a live musical performance began. The song called Ador opened the set — a song written by Srijit Mukherji, who also shaped its melody. This was followed by a track penned by Ritam Sen, originally sung by Papon and Antara Mitra. Followed by two other songs from the film and the final song of the evening, written by Srijato, brought the musical segment to a close, with all the singers and musicians being introduced and thanked.Actor Subhashree Ganguly, another lead in the film later addressed the gathering, thanking the entire team and reminiscing about her long-standing bond with Jisshu, which began during a dance reality show. Saurav Das thanked his family, collaborators, sponsors and partners, acknowledging the challenges faced during the making of Abhiman and the people who helped the team move forward. The entire cast and crew were then called on stage, marking a celebratory moment for the film.The evening concluded with the announcement of Abhhiman merchandise — featuring memorable quotes from the film, followed by a group picture to end the night on a happy note.With its emotional storytelling, soulful music and a cast led by Jisshu, Subhashree Ganguly and Prosenjit, the film promises to be a film rooted in relationships, resilience and the enduring spirit of Bengali cinema.
