An 8-year-old girl was reportedly raped in a field in the Dabok area on Sunday evening, an incident that led to protests and damage to a police vehicle on Monday. The victim, who usually accompanies her mother to an agriculture field, had gone alone to a nearby field.
Police said that the accused, identified as Ramlal, took advantage of the girl being alone, leading her to a nearby bush where the assault occurred. After returning home, the girl recounted the incident to her family, who immediately took her to Maharana Bhupal government hospital. A case was filed at the Dabok police station following the report.
Police arrested the suspect early Monday morning. However, local residents, angered by the crime, gathered outside the police station. The crowd blocked a road and began pelting stones, causing damage to a police vehicle.
Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal, accompanied by other officials, arrived at the scene to manage the situation and disperse the crowd. Additional SP Anjna Sukhwal stated that police teams had conducted overnight raids at various locations to apprehend the accused.
She also mentioned that several youths involved in the stone-pelting have been identified, and a separate case has been registered against them for obstructing public duty.
