PU prof selected for human rights programme in France

Prof Gupta, who has made significant contributions in the fields of human rights, women’s rights, public policy and social justice, is also president of TG-03 (Human Rights and Global Justice) of the International Sociological Association

Chandigarh: Prof Namita Gupta, dean student welfare (women) at Panjab University and professor at the Centre for Human Rights and Duties, has been selected to participate in the 55th International Programme on “Human Rights and the Spirit of Resistance” being organised by the René Cassin Foundation–International Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France, from July 13 to 17.The programme will bring together scholars, legal practitioners and human rights experts from across the world to discuss contemporary issues in human rights and humanitarian law.Prof Gupta, who has made significant contributions in the fields of human rights, women’s rights, public policy and social justice, is also president of TG-03 (human rights and global justice) of the International Sociological Association.She has previously represented Panjab University and India at academic forums and training programmes in countries including Australia, Canada, Austria, Hungary, Thailand and South Korea.The university said her participation in the prestigious programme reflects PU’s growing global academic engagement and commitment to excellence in human rights education.
