UFC stars will train FBI agents at Quantico in a “historic” seminar -- a move critics say raises troubling optics amid ongoing scrutiny of federal law enforcement.

In what sounds like a crossover episode nobody quite asked for, the worlds of mixed martial arts and federal law enforcement are seemingly teaming up.
As per a report from The Independent, the US’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced a two-day training seminar with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), bringing several of the promotion’s biggest names to the FBI’s Special Agent Academy in Quantico.
FBI Director Kash Patel described the initiative as a “historic opportunity," with the event scheduled for March 15–16.
“I’m thrilled to announce this historic seminar between the FBI and the UFC at Quantico," Patel said in a statement released by the UFC.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for our FBI agents to learn and train with some of the greatest athletes on earth — helping the world’s premier law enforcement agency be even better prepared to protect the American people."
Fighters Headlining the Seminar
The program will feature several prominent UFC fighters leading the sessions.
Among those scheduled to train agents are Justin Gaethje, interim lightweight champion and one of the sport’s most explosive strikers, and Jorge Masvidal, the promotion’s inaugural “BMF" champion.
They will be joined by former middleweight champion Chris Weidman, lightweight contender Michael Chandler, Brazilian jiu-jitsu legend Renzo Gracie, flyweight contender Manel Kape, and former strawweight challenger Claudia Gadelha.
The Politics Behind the Partnership
The collaboration also reflects the increasingly visible relationship between UFC leadership and Washington’s political circles.
UFC president Dana White has been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, appearing at political rallies and backing a high-profile UFC event planned at the White House later this year.
White welcomed the partnership, saying he was “proud to support the FBI in strengthening their defense techniques."
Move Raises Questions
While officials frame the seminar as a practical training exercise, critics argue the optics are uncomfortable — particularly at a time when ICE agents continue to face scrutiny over allegations of excessive force and controversial detention practices.
For some observers, the image of cage fighters coaching federal agents in combat techniques raises a simple question: Does law enforcement really need more ways to throw punches?
