Punjab is battling severe monsoon floods, with the state declared disaster-hit. The death toll has climbed to 37, with over 3.5 lakh people and 1655 villages across all 23 districts impacted by the deluge. Massive rescue operations are underway involving over 30 teams from the NDRF, Army, Navy, and Air Force. Scenes of destruction are widespread, with cars seen floating in knee-deep water in Mohali's phase 11. In Ferozepur, the Satluj river has marooned 20 villages, leaving them accessible only by boat in water that is 8 to 10 feet deep.
