Punjab Speaker rejects opposition's demand for alcohol test on Bhagwant Mann

The Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker has rejected the opposition's demand to conduct a dope or alcohol test on the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The demand was collectively raised by opposition parties, including the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party, and the Akali Dal, following allegations of unusual behaviour by the Chief Minister on the assembly floor. Following the Speaker's decision to reject the written request, opposition members launched a strong protest inside the House. Lawmakers moved to the Well of the assembly and raised slogans against the state government, prompting the speaker to adjourn the proceedings for ten minutes. The opposition maintained that the test is necessary, labelling the Chief Minister a habitual offender.
