Quality, transparency key to improving public perception of government services: Joint Collector

Quality and transparency in public service delivery are essential for improving public perception of government programmes and services, Visakhapatnam Joint Collector Gobbilla Vidyadhari said on Monday.

At a review meeting held at the Collectorate to assess departmental performance and findings of a recent public opinion survey, Ms. Vidyadhari said coordinated efforts by departments were necessary to strengthen public confidence in welfare and development initiatives.

She noted that six of the 12 departments covered in the survey had recorded encouraging performance and congratulated the officials concerned. The remaining departments were asked to broaden and improve service delivery to enhance public satisfaction.

The Joint Collector cited positive feedback on the functioning of the Revenue Department, DRDA and SERP self-help group programmes. She also referred to the favourable public response to Civil Supplies services and the Record of Rights (RoR) survey.

Ms. Vidyadhari asked officials to address issues at the field level promptly, respond constructively to public feedback and ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach all eligible beneficiaries.
