Question papers stolen from RGPV, exam postponed; FIR registered

Bhopal: A major security lapse surfaced at Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) on Friday after nine bundles of question papers went missing from the examination branch of the University’s Teaching Department (UTD), forcing authorities to postpone examination at the last minute. The incident triggered protests by members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), following which Gandhi Nagar police registered an FIR against unidentified persons and launched an investigation.According to officials, nine bundles of question papers of around nine subjects, including those scheduled for upcoming examinations, were found missing from the examination branch of the School of Biomolecular Technology and Biotechnology.Students who had arrived to appear for the PG fourth semester (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) examination, scheduled at 11 am, were informed just before the commencement of the exam that the paper had been postponed as the question papers were unavailable. The announcement led to resentment among students.Gandhi Nagar SHO Vijendra Marskole said an FIR has been registered on the complaint of the university administration and investigations are underway from all possible angles.

Window broken, main gate found locked:Preliminary investigation has revealed several unusual circumstances. Police said that although the examination branch has more than a dozen cupboards, only one cupboard was found open, and it was the one from which the question papers had disappeared.Police also found that the main entrance to the examination branch remained locked, with the grill gate and door intact. However, one window of the office had been broken, while no signs of tampering were found on any other doors or locks.Police said the circumstances have raised suspicion of possible insider involvement, though all angles are being investigated. The incident has also raised serious concerns over the security arrangements for confidential examination material at the university.
