Quick response teams formed to boost policing in Magadh

Gaya: Magadh range IG Vikas Vaibhav has reviewed 188 serious criminal cases in the five districts of the range during his first month in office with a focus on crimes against women and children as well as instances of police negligence.Vaibhav said he had personally inspected the Gaya district police control room, traffic check posts and formed quick response teams to strengthen policing. To improve accountability within the force, disciplinary action was initiated against nearly half a dozen officers, including investigating officers, a police inspector posted at the cyber police station in Jehanabad and the SHO of Bankebazar police station in Gaya district. As part of efforts to improve field-level policing, Vaibhav has adopted Muffassil police station in Gaya district on a pilot basis to study operational challenges. He also conducted spot visits to Nadriganj in Nawada and Gurua in Gaya following attacks on police personnel and a gold loot case. Both cases were solved quickly.A special investigation team was formed after the kidnapping of a child from the Obra police station area. The child was later rescued from Gaya town.

Vaibhav said public interaction programmes are being organised at police stations to strengthen police-public cooperation. Officers have been asked to deal sensitively with issues involving elderly citizens, NRIs, tourists and weaker sections. The IG office has received 1,196 petitions, which are being disposed of in a time-bound manner. “Our office is committed to the creation of fearlessness and effective policing in an unbiased manner. Once public confidence is built up, investors and entrepreneurs will be encouraged to establish business and manufacturing units in the interest of the state’s prosperity,” Vaibhav said.
