Ujaan Ganguly and Rahul Arunoday Banerjee
Audiences in Bengal are set to see Rahul Banerjee this July in what was probably his last movie before his fatal accident on March 29. The movie, Katukutu Buro, also marks the directorial debut of Kaushik and Churni Ganguly’s son Ujaan. The film – a social thriller inspired by Sukumar Ray’s famous children's poem – follows a young man named Kedar Barua searching for hope in a city ridden by immorality. In his quest, he is driven into madness by ghosts.Speaking to us, Ujaan, who is also acting in the film and is paired opposite debutante Rapurna Bhattacharyya, revealed that he last saw Rahul on February 20. “We met at the dubbing studio, as he capped off another brilliant performance. Knowing the profundity of the role he left behind makes it incredibly hard for our team to process that he's gone. But the little moments remain - the deliberate pauses before he would drop a dry joke with an impish smile, his effortless, comforting presence, and his brilliant anecdotes,” he said, adding that the late actor has played a memorable role in the film.
