Koppal: Former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid and his wife Vijeta visited the Anjanadri temple in Gangavathi taluk on Friday, climbing 575 steps to offer special prayers at the hilltop shrine, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Hanuman.
The couple’s visit came after they offered prayers at the Yantroddharaka Hanuman shrine in Hampi, where Dravid is said to have sought divine blessings for his son’s cricketing future.Earlier, they also visited the Virupaksha temple before proceeding to the temple on the banks of Tungabhadra River, where Hanuman is worshipped in a unique yantra form. According to local tradition, devotees who worship at the Yantroddharaka temple also visit Anjanadri temple to complete the pilgrimage. Following this custom, Dravid and his wife travelled to Anjanadri, and performed special rituals.The visit was kept low-key, with arrangements made to ensure confidentiality.
