In preparation for the Holi festivities, Indian Railways is rolling out an extraordinary fleet of 1,409 special trains from March 1st through 22nd. The East Central Railway is taking the lead with 285 dedicated services, a remarkable increase from last year.
Patna: Railways will run 1,409 special trains from March 1 to 22 to tackle the huge rush of passengers during Holi.According to a Railway Board official, the East Central Railway (ECR) will play a significant role in the operation of these special trains with an unprecedented 285 special trains set to run from different stations.
“This marks a sharp increase in the number of special trains compared to previous years which was 1,144,” he said.The Western Railway will run 231 trains, followed by Central Railway (209), South Central Railway (160), Northern Railway (108), North Western Railway (71), North Central Railway (66), North Eastern Railway (62), East Coast Railway (62), South Western Railway (47), West Central Railway (43), Southern Railway (39), Konkan Railway (9) and North Frontier Railway (2), South East Central Railway (15).According to the ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO), the Holi special trains will cater to a variety of routes, especially to and from major hubs like Patna, Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru, Howrah, Pune and various other parts of Uttar Pradesh.
