Rain lashes Barwani, Sendhwa hit by dusty storm & power outage

Barwani: Rain accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed Barwani district on Monday afternoon, bringing relief from intense heat and humidity. The showers, which lasted for nearly half an hour, lowered temperature by around four degrees and raised hopes among farmers waiting for sowing kharif crops.Dark clouds gathered over the district after 3 pm, followed by strong winds and heavy rainfall around 4 pm. Waterlogging was reported on several roads, slowing traffic and causing inconvenience to commuters. Rain was recorded in Rajpur town.In Sendhwa, a dust storm preceded the weather change, uprooting nearly a dozen trees and disrupting power supply for about three hours, said discom officials Ravi Neel Kanth.The delayed showers raised concerns among farmers as field preparation activities remained stalled due to dry conditions. Agriculture officials said the rain provided adequate soil moisture for land preparation and is expected to aid timely sowing of soyabean, maize and cotton crops.Met officials have forecast intermittent rain across the district over the next 24-48 hours.
