While some parts of the Karnataka received rainfall ranging from very heavy to heavy on Tuesday, the southwest monsoon continued to elude Bengaluru and its neighborhood.
A red alert was declared in many districts in the coastal and Malnad regions as heavy rain lashed these regions.
According to the India Meteorology Department observatory rainfall data recorded between 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 a.m. on Tuesday, Honnavar in Uttara Kannada district recorded 24.1 mm rainfall, Kalburgi 17.1 mm, Shivamogga 12 mm and Belagavi Airport 12.4 mm. On the other hand, the three stations in Bengaluru recorded “trace rainfall.”
According to the data recorded by the Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) and Automatic Rain Gauges (ARG), Agumbe in Shivamogga district recorded 63 mm rainfall, Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district recorded 34 mm rainfall and Balehonnur in Chikkamagaluru recorded 30 mm.
A yellow alert has been issued for the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu on July 8. For Bengaluru city and the neighbourhood, forecast is generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain.
