Rajdhani gets new stop at Dhemaji

Excitement filled the air in Dhemaji district as Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah officially inaugurated the Dibrugarh-Delhi Rajdhani Express at Dhemaji station. This long-awaited addition marks a significant win for the community, providing more convenient travel options to Delhi and other destinations.

Dibrugarh: In a momentous occasion for Dhemaji district, Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah on Friday night flagged off the Dibrugarh-Delhi Rajdhani Express from its new stoppage at Dhemaji station, fulfilling a decades-long demand of the local people.The train, which departed from Dibrugarh station at its scheduled time of 10pm, arrived at Dhemaji station at 10.42pm. After a two-minute stoppage, MP Baruah ceremonially flagged off the train at 10.44pm amid enthusiastic participation from dignitaries and local residents.“I feel immense joy and pride to have attended the official inaugural ceremony of the Rajdhani Express stoppage at Dhemaji Railway Station today.

I firmly believe that this decision will make travel significantly more convenient for the people of Dhemaji district as well as neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh,” Baruah said.The event was attended by dignitaries, including Jonai MLA Bhuban Pegu, Dhemaji deputy commissioner Rahul Suresh Javir, senior superintendent of police Hitesh Chandra Roy, chief executive member of the Deori Autonomous Council Bhairab Deori and Dhemaji district BJP president Rupa Kaman.

Chairpersons of Dhemaji and Silapathar municipal boards, Diprekha Das Bagri and Labanya Pait Doley respectively, were also present alongside railway officials.“The Rajdhani Express stoppage at Dhemaji will make travel to Delhi and other parts of the country much easier and time-saving for students, professionals, businesspersons and general passengers. I hope this historic step will further strengthen Dhemaji’s overall development, economic progress, and its connectivity with the national mainstream,” Baruah said.For decades, Dhemaji residents had been demanding a stoppage of the Rajdhani Express at their station.
