Rajeshwar Singh urges CM to launch Mission FDI-UP

Lucknow: Sarojini Nagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh has urged CM Yogi Adityanath to launch “Mission FDI-UP”, a dedicated initiative aimed at positioning Uttar Pradesh among India’s top destinations for foreign direct investment (FDI) over the next five years. In a letter to the CM, Singh said Uttar Pradesh has witnessed significant progress in infrastructure, law and order, industrial development, defence manufacturing, data centres, electronics, and investor facilitation, creating a strong foundation for attracting global investments.Citing Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) data, Singh noted that while Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, and other leading states attracted substantial FDI inflows between Oct 2019 and Dec 2025, Uttar Pradesh received Rs 23,158 crore, accounting for nearly 1% of India’s state-wise FDI equity inflows. He argued that the state’s relatively low share of FDI is not due to a lack of potential, pointing to its large consumer market, abundant workforce, improving logistics network, and political stability. Instead, he said, the challenge lies in translating these advantages into greater investor confidence and faster project execution.Singh proposed the creation of a Chief Minister-led Global Investor War Room, country-specific FDI strategies, sector-focused investment clusters, and stronger global branding efforts. He suggested targeting investors from Japan, South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, the UAE, Singapore, and Taiwan in sectors such as semiconductors, electronics, electric vehicles, defence, aerospace, data centres, and food processing. He said Uttar Pradesh’s next phase of growth should focus on converting investment commitments into operational industries, jobs, and exports, stressing that a developed India cannot be achieved without a developed Uttar Pradesh.
