Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday fired off a warning to Pakistan against carrying out any “misadventure", emphasising that India would carry out an “unprecedented and decisive" action in response.

While addressing an event to honour Indian soldiers in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, the minister said the BJP government has always given the highest respect for troops who have made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation, recalling the Pahalgam terror attack last month.

“After the terror attack in Pahalgam, Indian soldiers brought Pakistan to its knees in just 22 minutes during Operation Sindoor. This was the biggest operation against terrorism in the Indian military history. The operation is not over yet. If any mischief is carried out from across the border, not only will a befitting response be given, but there will be unprecedented action," he said during the event.

“Our neighbour, in the current situation, can commit any misadventure. If it does so, India’s response will be unprecedented and decisive," Singh affirmed. The defence minister also emphasised that the NDA government has taken decisive action against terrorism and reiterated India’s policy of ‘zero tolerance’.

His remarks came in the midst of the US-Israeli war on Iran, where Pakistan has positioned itself as a key mediator. The war has gripped global oil markets and heightened tensions across Asia.

“Do you remember what the situation was when the Congress-led UPA government was in power? Almost every other day, there would either be a terrorist incident in some part of the country or reports of bomb blasts in cities," he added. “What was the government’s response at that time? Thick dossiers were handed over, on which no action was taken."

Rajnath Singh also touched upon the ongoing conflict in West Asia, assuring people that the BJP government is taking all steps to ensure the safety of Indian nationals in the region. He also asserted that there was no shortage of gas and fuel in the country and India was ready to deal with any energy crisis.

He also accused the opposition of doing petty politics on the matter, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was using his diplomatic skills to protect Indian interests. “This is not the time for party politics, but for all political parties to come together," he added.
