Rajya Sabha Election Results, Winners List 2026 Live Updates: All preparations have been completed for the Rajya Sabha elections to two seats in Jharkhand, scheduled to be held on Thursday, with three candidates in the fray, officials said.

The BJP-led NDA has thrown its weight behind Independent candidate Parimal Nathwani despite not having the required numbers in the Assembly. The other two contenders are the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s (JMM) Baidyanath Ram and Congress nominee Pranav Jha.

Voting will be held from 9 am to 4 pm at a polling station set up inside the Jharkhand Assembly premises. A candidate needs a minimum of 28 first-preference votes to secure victory in the June 18 election.

While the BJP-led NDA commands the support of 24 MLAs in the 81-member Assembly, the INDIA bloc enjoys a comfortable majority with 56 legislators, making the contest keenly watched despite the numerical advantage of the ruling alliance.

Meanwhile, polling for Mizoram’s lone Rajya Sabha seat will also be held on Thursday, with ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) candidate K Laltluangkima and Mizo National Front (MNF) nominee Zothansangi Hmar in the fray.

In the 40-member Assembly, the ZPM has 27 MLAs and the MNF 10, while the BJP and Congress have two and one legislator, respectively. Both the BJP and Congress have decided to abstain from voting.
