Vijayawada: The much-awaited ACA International Cricket Stadium at Mangalagiri was officially inaugurated by popular actor Ram Charan on Wednesday, marking a significant moment for cricket enthusiasts in Andhra Pradesh.
The inauguration coincided with the decisive phase of the Andhra Premier League (APL), bringing added excitement to the tournament.Ram Charan unveiled the APL trophy and team jerseys before the start of the key league match between Bhimavaram Bulls and Capital Amaravati Royals. The Capital Amaravati Royals won the toss and elected to bat, while a large crowd gathered to witness both the match and the stadium’s grand opening.Speaking on the occasion, Ram Charan described the Andhra Premier League as an excellent platform for nurturing young cricketing talent. He said the tournament provides aspiring players with valuable exposure and opportunities to showcase their skills. Congratulating all participating teams, he expressed hope that more cricketers from Andhra Pradesh would emerge through the league and represent the state and country at higher levels.
The event was attended by Union minister Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma, Andhra Cricket Association President Keshineni Shivnath (Chinni), ACA secretary Sana Satish, MLA Venigandla Ramu and other dignitaries.The Andhra Premier League has now entered a crucial phase, with league-stage matches scheduled until June 27. The playoffs will begin on June 28, while the grand finale is set to be played on June 30.Seven teams are competing in the tournament, with Bhimavaram Bulls currently leading the standings with eight points from six matches. The top four teams at the end of the league stage will advance to the playoffs.The inauguration of the state-of-the-art Mangalagiri stadium is being seen as a major boost for cricket infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh, providing a world-class venue for domestic tournaments and future cricketing events.
