The Disciplinary Action Committee of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founded by Dr. S. Ramadoss has recommended issue of show-cause notice to his estranged son and party leader Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss seeking explanation over why action should not be taken against him over the 16 charges listed against him.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) chaired by Mr. Ramadoss at his Thailapuram residence in Villupuram on Tuesday (August 19, 2025).
Speaking to reporters, Salem West MLA and committee member R. Arul said the show-cause notice will be sent by the party’s organising secretary to Mr. Anbumani on Tuesday as per Section 19 of the party’s by-laws. Mr. Anbumani should submit his explanation over the charges listed against him with supporting documents if any, either in person or through letter to Thailapuram on or before August 31, he said.
The charges included “inappropriate behaviour” [by Dr. Anbumani] at the party’s general council in December last year and an attempt to create a split in the party, besides issuing directives to the party’s district secretaries to not attend the meeting convened by Dr. Ramadoss at Thailapuram. Social media handles were also “misused to make derogatory remarks” against Dr. Ramadoss, the DAC said.
Replying to a question over K. Balu, a key confidante of Mr. Anbumani over his purported statement that the decisions taken at the general council meeting would not be binding on the party, Mr. Ramadoss said that Mr. Balu was expelled from the party and “not much importance needs to be attached to it”.
The PMK founder also welcomed the nomination of C.P. Radhakrishnan, the Governor of Maharashtra as the NDA’s candidate for the Vice-President. Party honorary president G.K. Mani and members of the committee were present.
