Ramesh Chennithala to lead anti-drug rally Toofan Jagaran in Perumbavoor

Kochi: Home minister Ramesh Chennithala will be in Perumbavoor on Friday as part of Operation Toofan: The Narco Hunt, which has been under way in the state for a month with the aim of uprooting drug abuse.

The awareness campaign Toofan Jagaran will begin in Perumbavoor, and the home minister will lead a rally in the town on Friday.He is visiting the town to support the campaign following complaints that drug trafficking is widespread under the cover of migrant labour in Perumbavoor.Chennithala will lead the anti-drug rally starting at 2.30pm from Perumbavoor Boys High School. A Thoofan flag will be hoisted in the town centre. In the programme to be held at FAS Auditorium, the minister will interact with traders, industrialists, community and social leaders, anti-drug activists, students and others.

Later, at 5pm, the minister will visit Kandanthara, known as Bhai Colony, and meet locals and migrant labourers.MP Benny Behanan, MLAs Manoj Moothedan and V P Sajeendran, Perumbavoor municipal chairperson Sangeetha K N, state police chief Rawada Chandrasekhar, Toofan nodal officer Putta Vimaladitya, Ernakulam range DIG Yatheesh Chandra, Aluva rural SP Sudarshan, Perumbavoor ACP Hardik Meena and others will participate in the campaign.
