Ranchi: A prominent city-based realtor allegedly died by suicide by jumping off the sixth floor of his apartment on Thursday night, police said on Friday. The deceased, identified as Anurag Sarawgi (50), allegedly jumped off the balcony from his flat in Belair apartment in the city’s Main Road area under Hindpiri police station limits.
He was in the real estate business for the last 22 years.Police said the reason behind the businessman taking such an extreme step could not be ascertained yet, but they were investigating it.At the time of the incident, Sarawgi was alone in his flat, while his parents were in their flat on the fifth floor. “His wife and two children were with Sarawgi’s mother-in-law in Chennai, who went there for treatment. The guard of the apartment first noticed him falling to the ground at about 10 pm and informed the police,” Kotwali DSP Prakash Soy told TOI.“When police went up to his flat on the sixth floor, the doors were locked from inside, and police had to enter through the windows. We had found his palm and footprints on the bar in the balcony. Prima facie, the situation indicates it as a suicide, but we are not ruling out any other aspect. Post-mortem has been conducted on Friday at Rims,” the DSP added. Police have not found any suicide note from the flat.
