Ranchi: A woman and her alleged lover were arrested for allegedly murdering her husband after he discovered their relationship, police said on Tuesday.The headless, half-burnt body of Majhitola-based resident Sanjay Lohra, 27, was recovered from the Mahadeotand forest area under the Bundu police station limits on June 19, a day after he was allegedly killed.The arrested accused have been identified as Subodhini Devi, 26, and her lover, Raman Kumar Seth, 34. While the wife of the deceased was arrested from her house, Raman was nabbed from near Doria More in Tamar on Monday. A sharp-edged weapon and a car allegedly used in the crime have also been seized, police said.SP (Rural) Gaurav Goswami said, “A special investigation team (SIT), which was set up following the recovery of the body, traced and arrested the two accused based on technical evidence and intelligence inputs.
The duo confessed to the murder. They revealed that they have been in a relationship for the past two years, which Sanjay discovered. Hence, Subodhini conspired with Raman and his associates to eliminate him.
”“On June 18, Subodhini asked Sanjay to accompany her to a relative’s wedding at Sonahatu. The couple set out on a motorcycle, but she stopped near a riverbank on the way under the pretext of attending nature’s call.
Raman and two accomplices allegedly arrived in a car and assaulted Sanjay with lathis, killing him on the spot. The accused then transported the body to Mahadeotand forest, where they allegedly severed the victim’s head with a sharp weapon and partially burnt the lower portion of the body before dumping it in the area.
The accused next buried the head at Tamar,” the SP (Rural) added.Based on information provided by the arrested accused, police recovered the victim’s head. Efforts are under way to arrest the two accomplices involved in the crime, police added.
