A day after, Punjab Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa served a legal notice on suspended party leader Navjot Kaur Sidhu, asking her to apologise for making "defamatory" remarks against him or face legal action, kaur has fired back in her legal reply saying that if Randhawa chooses to pursue litigation, she is fully prepared to contest the matter before the appropriate forums. The response warns Randhawa to withdraw the notice immediately, failing which Kaur will initiate legal proceedings for malicious prosecution, defamation and harassment.

Her reply further says that such actions will not deter her from continuing her service towards the public. Dr Kaur reiterated that she stands by her statements, calling Randhawa’s notice baseless. She added that her remarks fall under freedom of speech and are based on media reports.

Congress MP and former Punjab deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has demanded action against Navjot Singh Sidhu and his wife, Navjot Kaur Sidhu, after a major political storm erupted over Kaur’s remark alleging that an “attache full of Rs 500 crore” was required to become Punjab’s chief minister.

Navjot Kaur Sidhu had made the explosive allegation late Saturday after meeting Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria in Chandigarh regarding the state’s law-and-order situation. Her remark quickly escalated into a political flashpoint, with critics accusing the Sidhus of damaging the Congress at a sensitive moment.

Later, the Punjab Congress suspended Navjot Kaur from its primary membership over her controversial remark that sparked a political row.

Earlier, Randhawa, speaking to India Today, launched a scathing attack on the Sidhu couple, alleging that their actions had consistently harmed the Congress. “They have completed the mission for which they entered the Congress. We never understood what the Sidhus were actually trying to do,” he said.

As backlash mounted, Kaur clarified that her statement had been misconstrued. “I am shocked to see the twist given to a straight comment saying that our Congress party has never demanded anything from us. On being asked about Navjot becoming a CM face from any other party, I stated that we have no money to offer for a CM post. Listen carefully,” she said.
