Professor of Bio-technology at Bapuji College of Engineering and Technology, Davangere, B.E. Rangaswamy took charge as the new Vice-Chancellor of Davangere University in Davangere on Thursday.

Following the appointment order issued by the Governor appointing him as the new Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rangaswamy assumed office on Thursday.

Acting Vice-Chancellor K. Venkatesh handed over charge to him.

Registrar S.B. Ganti, Registrar (Evaluation) C.K. Ramesh and Finance Officer R. Shashidar were present.

Speaking after assuming office, Prof. Rangaswamy said that along with helping students build a self-reliant life through education, priority will be given to achieving academic excellence in the university.

Prof. Rangaswamy said that academically, Davangere University is strong and in the coming days, it will tie up with various national and international level organisations and institutions to provide a better future to students. Everyone will be taken into confidence to develop the university, he said.

A native of Bidarkere village of Holalkere taluk, Prof. Rangaswamy earlier served as Registrar of Visvesvaraya Technological University. He has delivered special talks at various foreign universities.
