A 19-year-old former domestic help allegedly carried out a brutal rape, murder and robbery at a senior IRS officer’s residence in Delhi, using his familiarity with the household routine to execute the crime, police said.

The accused, Rahul Meena, had worked with the family for around eight months before being dismissed. Investigators said he knew the layout of the house, where keys were kept, and the daily schedule of the family, details he allegedly used to enter the house when the victim was alone.

From Alwar Assault To Delhi Crime

According to police inputs, Meena allegedly raped a woman in Alwar just hours before the Delhi incident. He then sold a mobile phone for Rs 10,000 and hired a cab for Rs 6,000 to reach Delhi, in what officials believe was an attempt to evade tracking.

He reached the house early in the morning, around the time the victim’s parents had stepped out for their routine gym visit, leaving her alone.

Inside The House: Attack And Assault

CCTV footage shows Meena entering the colony around 6:30 am. He went to the terrace study room where the 22-year-old victim, an IIT graduate preparing for the UPSC exam, was studying.

Police said he attempted to overpower her by strangling her. When she resisted, he allegedly attacked her with a lamp and another heavy object, causing severe injuries. He then allegedly raped her while she was unconscious.

Failed Robbery Attempt, Then Killing

Investigators said Meena intended to rob the house. He dragged the victim downstairs and tried to open a locker using her fingerprint on a biometric scanner. However, it did not work, possibly because she had died by then, police sources said.

He then used a screwdriver to break open the locker and allegedly stole cash and jewellery. Police said approximately ₹2 to ₹2.5 lakh may have been taken from the house.

Before fleeing, Meena changed his clothes, switched his footwear and left the premises.

Arrest And Probe

The accused was later tracked to a hotel in Delhi’s Dwarka and arrested. Police have invoked charges of rape, murder and robbery in the case.

Police Officers said Meena had a history of borrowing money from other domestic workers, allegedly to fund his addiction to online games like “Teen Patti." He had been dismissed from his job after complaints of repeatedly taking loans and not repaying them.

Motive Under Scanner

While the accused has claimed robbery as his motive during initial interrogation, police suspect sexual assault may have been the primary intent, given the similar crime reported in Alwar less than 24 hours earlier.

Investigators are also probing whether resentment over his dismissal from the job played a role.

Who Is The Victim

The victim had studied at DPS RK Puram, was an All-India topper in Class 12, and graduated from IIT Delhi. She was preparing for the UPSC examination and had recently started a new study routine, beginning early in the morning, the day the incident took place.

Police said further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events.
