Patna: Bihar Regiment Centre (BRC) at Danapur cantonment observed Raising Day of the 63rd Rashtriya Rifles Battalion with military pride and enthusiasm at the BRC ground here on Tuesday.
The battalion, which is also known as the ‘Fourth Dimension’ in the Army parlance, was raised on June 30, 2004 under the leadership of Col Anand Bhushan with an aim to prevent infiltration of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.The ceremony was attended by senior Army officers, serving personnel, veterans and other members of the Bihar Regiment who paid tributes to the courage, sacrifice and commitment of the Rashtriya Rifles in safeguarding the nation’s security particularly in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir.The programme featured a ceremonial parade and other military events showcasing the discipline, professionalism and combat readiness of the troops. BRC officers highlighted the distinguished role played by the Rashtriya Rifles over the past two decades in maintaining peace and stability in sensitive regions of the country.Speaking on the occasion, BRC commandant Brig Rakesh Kumar Bora lauded the force for its exemplary service, dedication and numerous acts of gallantry.
He also remembered the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty and reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to upholding the highest traditions of service to the nation.The event concluded with a renewed pledge by the Bihar Regiment Centre officers, including Lt Col R C Khot, subedar major Narayan Pradhan and other junior commissioned officers to uphold the values of courage, honour and selfless service carrying forward the proud legacy of the Rashtriya Rifles, a BRC official said, adding wreaths were earlier laid at the Veer Smriti Asthal in token of remembrance of the brave hearts of the battalion.
