The resolution termed the proposed alignment a threat to regional peace & global stability, & accused Israel of attempting to forge blocs aimed at isolating Muslim-majority states

While New Delhi has maintained that its relationship with Israel is based on national interest and mutual benefit, the optics of PM Modi’s high-profile visit have fueled anxieties in Islamabad.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Israel has triggered sharp political and media reactions in Pakistan, with Islamabad expressing concern over growing strategic ties between New Delhi and Tel Aviv.
As PM Modi was slated to begin his engagements, including high-level meetings and an address at the Knesset, Pakistan’s political establishment responded with an unusually strong pushback. The Senate of Pakistan unanimously passed a resolution condemning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over remarks about forming regional alliances with India and other countries, which Pakistani lawmakers described as being “against Muslim nations".
The resolution termed the proposed alignment a threat to regional peace and global stability, and accused Israel of attempting to forge blocs aimed at isolating Muslim-majority states.
Media Frenzy And Prime-Time Rhetoric
Pakistan’s electronic media ran marathon transmissions covering PM Modi’s Israel visit, with several prime-time debates framing the India-Israel partnership as a strategic axis directed against Pakistan and China. Commentators and panelists repeatedly portrayed the cooperation as ideological as well as geopolitical, with some shows describing “Hindutva and Zionism" as aligned forces hostile to Muslim interests.
Chairman of the Pak-China Friendship Center, Mushahid Hussain Syed, claimed that the emerging India-Israel axis was designed to counter both Pakistan and China. He argued that expanding defence and intelligence ties between the two countries could alter the regional balance of power.
Former diplomat Maleeha Lodhi defended the Senate’s move, stating that the resolution was timely and necessary in light of Netanyahu’s remarks about regional alliances. She described the India-Israel partnership as “anti-Muslim and anti-Pakistan", urging stronger diplomatic engagement by Islamabad.
Rising Strategic Convergence
India and Israel have significantly expanded cooperation in recent years across defense, agriculture, water management, and technology sectors. Defense collaboration, in particular, has been a cornerstone of bilateral ties, with Israel emerging as one of India’s key defence suppliers.
While New Delhi has maintained that its relationship with Israel is based on national interest and mutual benefit—not directed against any third country—the optics of PM Modi’s high-profile visit have fueled anxieties in Islamabad.
Analysts note that Pakistan’s swift parliamentary resolution and intense media focus underscore deep-seated concerns about shifting regional alignments. The development also reflects Islamabad’s apprehension over growing India-Israel strategic convergence amid broader geopolitical realignments in West Asia.
