The BJP on Monday stepped up its attack on Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of reading “concocted things" about China in Parliament and warning that such conduct sets a dangerous precedent.
Party leaders said Gandhi was trivialising the floor of Parliament by citing unverified claims and should instead rely on established historical accounts.
Targeting Gandhi’s remarks on India–China history, BJP’s Nishikant Dubey in Parliament said, “Rahul Gandhi has been reading concocted things on China. But there is so much in the public domain about what Nehru did in China. He surrendered thousands of acres of land just to further his own statesmanship."
He further suggested that Gandhi read published works to understand the issue better, including My Years with Nehru-The Chinese Betrayal by B N Mullick, Himalayan Blunder by John Dalvi, and Crosswinds: Nehru, Zhou and the Anglo-American Competition over China by Vijay Gokhale.
The BJP alleged that Gandhi was selectively reading material of his choosing on the floor of Parliament, which it said undermines parliamentary standards.
The party accused Gandhi of becoming a “fake news factory" by reading what it described as fictitious material in Parliament.
BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya also weighed in, accusing Gandhi of misusing parliamentary privilege. “Rahul Gandhi is an incorrigible liar who is misusing parliamentary privilege to propagate a hostile narrative against India and its Armed Forces," Malviya said.
