 Telangana HC to Warangal police

HYDERABAD: The Telangana high court has directed the Warangal police to consider a fresh representation from former Warangal East MLA and BRS leader Nannapuneni Narender, who is seeking the appointment of personal security officers.Narender had earlier approached the police citing threats to his life, but his request was turned down after a threat perception report found no credible threat. The report was based on inputs from intelligence agencies and verified by the threat perception committee, which decides on security provisions.Challenging the rejection, Narender approached the high court, alleging that his plea was dismissed without granting him a proper hearing.

He claimed that he had call recordings and that pamphlets with threats had been circulated, indicating a real danger to his life.

The govt pleader argued that Narender had neither filed a formal complaint nor provided specific details of the alleged threats, leading authorities to rely solely on intelligence reports, which found no threat, including from left-wing extremist groups. The court directed Narender to submit a fresh representation within 15 days, including all available evidence and incident details.

It also instructed the police to place the representation before the threat perception committee and take appropriate action based on its findings. The govt pleader assured the court that the new representation would be duly reviewed and processed as per established protocol.
