Everyone is eagerly waiting for Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana, which will hit theatres on Diwali this year. While the Nitesh Tiwari directorial is one of the most-awaited films of the years, it is not the first time that fans will get to watch the adaptation of the Hindu mythological epic on screen. We all have grown up watching ‘Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama’, animated movie which also re-released last year. But do you know where you can watch it now? Let’s find out.

Where To Watch Ramayana?

The Indo-Japanese animated film, which has long been regarded as one of the finest adaptations of the Hindu epic, is now available for viewers to watch from the comfort of their homes. The film is available on YouTube channel, ‘Ramayana: The Legend Of Price Rama’. It has currently 10 million views but is only available to watch in 240 pixels. However, at the time of publishing this story, News18 Showsha could not independently verify if the channel on which the film is available is its official YouTube handle or not.

About Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama

Released in 1993, Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama is a landmark Indo-Japanese animated feature directed by Yugo Sako, Ram Mohan and Koichi Sasaki. The film is based on the ancient Indian epic Ramayana and is widely praised for its breathtaking animation, faithful storytelling and memorable musical score.

Despite receiving critical acclaim internationally, the film had a limited release in India due to various challenges at the time. Over the years, however, it attained cult status through television broadcasts.

The Film Returned To Theatres In 2025

More than three decades after its original release, Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama returned to Indian cinemas in 2025 in a remastered 4K version. The re-release introduced the classic to younger audiences while allowing longtime fans to relive the iconic animated adaptation on the big screen.

About Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana

While Ranbir Kapoor is playing the role of Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi will be seen as Goddess Sita. KGF star Yash will be seen as Ravana in Ramayana. Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey will play the roles of Hanuman and Lakshman, respectively. On the other hand, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen as Mandodari and Surpanakha. Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan are also part of this project.

Ramayana: Part I is slated for a theatrical release this Diwali, while the second chapter will release on Diwali 2027.
