In Bengaluru, a viral video shows men questioning a woman in a burqa for being with a Hindu man during Ramzan. They objected to her holding his hand.

In a suspected case of moral policing in Bengaluru, a video has gone viral showing a woman in a burqa accompanied by her friend, whom the men assumed belonged to another community. The pair were stopped on the road and interrogated about their relationship.

The men questioned the woman about why she was in the company of a Hindu man. They also raised objections to her holding his hand while wearing a burqa, especially during the holy month of Ramzan.

In the video, the woman can be heard explaining that they work at the same place and were merely travelling together. The group expressed disapproval of her holding the man’s hand and allegedly told her that if she wished to go out with him, she should remove her burqa.

No complaint has been registered yet, but the police are expected to initiate a suo motu case.
