Renault India recently revealed the new Renault Duster SUV in the Indian market. And now, the company is all set to unveil the Bridger Concept on March 10, offering a first look at the brand’s upcoming sub-4-metre SUV.
The concept will preview a new compact SUV that will join Renault’s India portfolio and could be positioned alongside the Renault Kiger. This new compact SUV will be designed and developed in India, and according to the company, the name ‘Bridger’ is derived from the word ‘bridge’, with the letters ‘ER’ added for identification. The name is intended to symbolise connection, reflecting the brand’s idea of linking innovation, design and markets through its upcoming compact SUV.

The teasers of the Renault Bridger concept reveal a boxy silhouette and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. Renault has confirmed that the upcoming urban SUV will measure under 4 metres in length but will not compromise on cabin space. A teaser video also shows illuminated Renault lettering on the fascia, similar to the international-spec Renault Duster. The Bridger is expected to use the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Renault Kiger.
The unit produces 100hp and is available with a manual or CVT transmission.

Once introduced, the model is expected to compete with rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet in the segment. The model will also benefit from Renault’s localisation strategy and positioning in the Indian market. A version from Nissan is also likely to follow at a later stage.
