Hyderabad: Telangana high court has sought a response from the govt in a public interest litigation seeking a detailed inquiry into lack of equipment at govt dialysis centres. The PIL, taken up based on a letter, sought the court to issue directions to the authorities to take steps to solve the problem at the earliest.

A division bench of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice GM Mohiuddin directed the govt to file its response in three weeks.According to the letter, there was no equipment and requisite facilities at 102 dialysis centres in govt hospitals. Govt maintained these centres through three private companies in PPP (public private partnership) mode and shelled out 1,950 per single use of a dialyser to the private company. However, during the last few months, patients who underwent dialysis at govt hospitals faced health issues, and some even succumbed, the letter alleged. It further alleged that at some dialysis centres, the blood transfusion process was not performed properly, and the patients were not subjected to mandatory viral tests regularly, due to which the patients suffered from serious ailments and succumbed.
